The Zonta Club of Fairfax places its primary focus on education. We view education in the broadest sense—financially supporting continuing educational opportunities for women and empowering young people and women to pursue new and challenging opportunities. Zonta International, District 3, and our club offer a wide variety of scholarships and certificate program assistance to women from the high school to graduate levels. The following is a description of each program and the amount of scholarship funds currently available

Young Woman in Public Affairs Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to encourage young women to pursue careers and seek leadership positions in public policy, government, and volunteer organizations. This scholarship is available at the international, district and club levels. Our club offers a $300 scholarship that is awarded in the Spring of each year, following a mid-January submission deadline. The winner of that scholarship goes on to compete at the District 3 level for a $500 scholarship. That winner then goes on to international competition for a $1000 scholarship.

NOVA Scholarships

These scholarships have been established locally to assist women in non-traditional fields of study. An average of two to three scholarships are available annually and are awarded on a semester basis. Following a submission deadline of early Spring, the scholarships are awarded in late summer. Each scholarship has a value of $1000 annually over a two semester time period.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship

This is a Zonta International Fellowship that is awarded to individuals pursuing graduate level studies in aerospace-related sciences and engineering. Awardees are selected by a committee comprised of former Amelia Earhart scholarship winners. Each annual fellowship is valued at $6000.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

This scholarship offers financial aid to women undergraduate students preparing for careers in business and business management. This fund was established by a generous bequest from former Zonta International Parliamentarian, Jane Klausman. Clubs may elect to participate in this program.
