Anita Light is Named 2007 Volunteer of the Year
for the Zonta Club of Fairfax County

Anita Light, Second Vice-President of the Zonta Club of Fairfax County was named the club's Volunteer of the Year by the Inter-Service Club Council of the City of Fairfax on July 31, 2007.

Anita is a Director for the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators where she works tirelessly to promote and develop programs for child welfare agencies. 

She has been a member of the Zonta Club of Fairfax since April 2002.  She jumped in immediately and became a very active member and leader of the club.  She coordinated the club's efforts for Celebrate Fairfax, and also was a key member of the Annual Golf Tournament Committee.
 


Many members of the club joined Anita for dinner and at the Volunteer of the Year ceremony at the Old Town Hall in the City of Fairfax, Virginia.  Simin Redjali, the club's representative to the Inter-Service Club Council, helped arrange the event, and Cindi Demitros, the Vice President of the Zonta Club of Fairfax County presented the award.

Kate Hanley named Honorary Member
of the Zonta Club of Fairfax County
 


Kate Hanley, longtime Chairman (at-large) of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and currently Secretary of the Commonweath of Virgina, became an honorary member of the Zonta Club of Fairfax County in May, 2006.  Kate has been a longtime supporter of the club.  Prior to her appointment as Secretary of the Commonweath, Kate served as President and CEO of the Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE).

Her community service is extensive.  She currently serves on the Commonwealth Transportation Board as the Northern Virginia District Member; the Secure Virginia Panel (Homeland Security); the INOVA Healthcare Services Board of Trustees; the Volunteer Fairfax Board of Directors; and the Fairfax Partnership for Youth Board of Directors.

Kate's myriad accomplishments and unmatched community service led to her selection as Honorary Member of the Zonta Club of Fairfax County.  For additional information on Kate's impressive background, click here.
